Araseli just joined the team as the Global Civic Engagement Coordinator. She is originally from Pinnacle, North Carolina, and a UNC alumna. She graduated from Carolina in 2020 with a double major in Global Studies and Romance Languages and a minor in Public Policy. During her time as a student, she was a first-generation college student, Carolina Covenant Scholar, a McNair Scholar, Gerald Unks recipient, and Frances L. Phillips recipient. She was also a Bonner Leader which allowed her to serve at Dobbins Hill Afterschool Community Center for four years. Araseli was also the recipient of one of the inaugural Global Gap Bridge Year Fellowships in 2017. With the fellowship she was able to travel to Sicily, Italy to volunteer at a refugee camp. She then traveled to Istanbul, Turkey to volunteer in a homestay teaching English. Most recently, Araseli finished her time with Fulbright Italy where she was an English Teaching Assistant in Tortoli, Sardinia. There, she taught at two high schools and was able to act as a cultural ambassador between the U.S and Italy.
