Hi,
I’m Araseli (R-uh-cell-E), and I’m the Director of the Global Gap Fellowship Program located at the Campus Y building at UNC. I’m originally from Pinnacle, North Carolina, but UNC is technically my second home. I graduated here with a double major in Global Studies and Romance Languages and a minor in Public Policy. I’m proud to say I was a Carolina First, a Covenant Scholar, a McNair Scholar, and a recipient of multiple scholarships. I became involved with the Campus Y student organization during my first-year as a Bonner Leader which allowed me to serve at Dobbins Hill Afterschool Community Center for four years. After Carolina, I accepted the Fulbright Italy, English Teaching Award in Tortoli, Sardinia for the year where I acted as a cultural ambassador between the U.S and Italy.
What brings me back to Carolina is that I was a recipient of the inaugural Global Gap Bridge Year Fellowship in 2017. As a gapper, I was able to travel to Sicily and volunteer at a refugee camp, and then to Istanbul and volunteer teaching English.
