Lucy Miller is a 2022-2023 Global Gap Year Fellow studying Political Science, Public Policy, and Social and Economic Justice. During her gap year, she worked with the ACLU of Northern California in San Francisco, a nonprofit that works to defend the rights of individuals guaranteed by the US Constitution through litigation and advocacy. During the second half of her gap year, she worked with an organic farm and hurricane resiliency center in Vieques, Puerto Rico, addressing the diverse needs of community members, from food security to power grid concerns. At Carolina, Lucy is involved with the Carolina Center for Public Service, Blank Canvas, an on-campus dance company, and Sigma Rho Lambda, UNC’s only Jewish-interest sorority. Her favorite part of working with the Global Office is getting to watch Global Gap Year Fellows grow over their gap years.
