Geneva Jones is from Charlotte, NC and recently graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC. At Myers Park, she served as President of the Philosophy Club and the LEARN Club, an organization focused on social justice education. Additionally, she was involved in clubs surrounding political discussion and Jewish culture, as well as the volleyball team. Outside of school, she is a proud elementary afterschool program volunteer at the local Charlotte nonprofit ourBRIDGE For Kids, which helps to serve immigrant families and their children with legal support, childcare, and community building. Geneva is passionate about social justice, immigrant rights, and education. Her initial placement is in Mexico City working with the organization Ayuda en Acción in the migrant support department. Additionally, she is teaching an online English class to kids at The Oaxaca Learning Center, an organization to support the education of underserved kids in Oaxaca. For her second placement, Geneva is interested in going to Asia. She hopes to find an organization in Thailand, Vietnam, or Taiwan that would allow her to explore her service goals and interests from a different perspective. At UNC, Geneva hopes to study Business.

Fun fact: Geneva loves learning languages, and hopes her gap year will help her further her fluency in Spanish!
